Food and Nutrition Information (American Dietetic Association)

The consumer resources section includes a good nutrition leading list, the new food pyramid, factsheets, and nutrition guidelines for infants, toddlers and kids.

Healthier Cajun Cooking (Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals, Office of Public Health, Center for Preventive Health, Nutrition)

Provides background information on Cajun cooking, an overview of basic nutrition issues, and traditional Cajun recipes adjusted to promote better health and analyzed for nutritional content.

This site presents hundreds of healthy recipes, including ones specifically low in fat, low in sodium, and healthful for one's heart. Also organized by meal, preparation method and number of servings.

Nutrient Data Laboratory (Agricultural Research Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture)

Offers a searchable database of foods and the nutrients they contain, as well as frequently asked questions, articles by staff, and links to other nutritional sites.

Nutrition.gov (National Agricultural Library, US Department of Agriculture)

Combining much of the best nutritional information available from the U.S. government, this site offers current news articles, information on government programs, dietary guidelines, food shopping suggestions, and a wide range of in-depth articles.

Nutrition and Physical Activity (Department of Health and Human Services)

Supplies a Body Mass Index (BMI) calculator, a menu planner, a graphic demonstration of the growth of serving portions at restaurant, and a set of steps for regaining a healthy weight.
